Saluting the Achievements of the Class of 2010
"If we can imagine it, we can achieve it." This inspirational theme resonated throughout Westbury High School’s Class of 2010 Graduation Ceremony, held at the Tilles Center on the C.W. Post Campus in Brookville on the afternoon of Saturday, June 26, 2010. Equipped with an excellent educational foundation, the 279 bright young men and women of the Class of 2010 are moving on to new educational and career paths. These graduates will be attending some of the top colleges and universities, including: University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Bucknell University, Temple University, and Penn State. In addition, many of the graduates have earned substantial monetary scholarships, thanks to their commitment to academics, athletics, the arts, and/or community service, as well as the support of their families, school, and community.
The Class Valedictorian, Cristina Ayala and Salutatorian Serge Saint Preux exemplified the Class of 2010’s spirit of determination and achievement, as they addressed their fellow graduates at the podium.
"Keep on going when life knocks you down," said Ms. Ayala. She wished the Class of 2010 continued success as they continue to grow and accomplish their goals. "Success is becoming who you are capable of becoming and achieving your own defined goals," she said. Ms. Ayala also encouraged her fellow graduates to break down stereotypes against African-Americans, Latinos, and young people.
